I had four turkeys that were about 4 mos old. I lost one while we were out of town, he had a gash/wound under his wing. I thought the rooster got him.

I lost another one yesterday, this one was panting and distressed also wounds under his wing.

I have two left a white and bronze, the bronze has a bare spot on his chest that is oozy and raw. The white one is unaffected. I have been keeping them penned up when I normally let them free range, I tried to keep them seperate from the rooster thinking he was tearing them up, but now I am realizing they started to have issues when I penned them up.

What does an overheated turkey start to do when they are stressed?

Hi, I don't know anything about turkeys but there is a turkey index on here...perhaps you will have better luck getting a response if you post under that topic. Good luck. I am getting turkeys this week and I am a newbie!

IDK about turkeys, so I thought I would *bump* you by suggesting that maybe something attacked them while you were away? Just a thought, but I hope someone on here will come to your rescue! Good luck!

something is causing the wounds..

could it be a hawk?

best to observe closely.

is there plenty of fresh water available?
what all are you feeding?
have you checked for mites?(they might be pecking the mites/lice)

In my experience... DOG... That is my best guess... treated lots of chickens with dog bites... always under the wings.... Something is biting it. Has to have a big enough jaw to wrap around it... Good luck and keep us posted.
