turkeys feather picking my chickens?

my poults have began plucking and eating the feathers of any chicken that gets close enough. they dont do it to the geese/ducks/each other, just a few of my cochins and orpingtons. i thought it was maybe a lack of protein so moved them onto higher protein pellets (they were on regular turkey pellets but ive moved them back onto young turkey pellets, these have a higher protein % of around 40)

its been a few weeks and they are still plucking my poor hens....



what else can i try??

can u separate turkeys from chickens for a few weeks? maybe they will stop

not really, the turkeys free range round the farm and go where they want, we dont have fences tall enough to stop them joining the chickens in the fields

one of the guys that works for the largest turkey producer in our area, told us that they will do that, and cannabilize, if they do not have enough grit (in addition to being packed in to thick)
