Sold four poults to our neighbor. And have six left because the other two hatched and are acting great just like the others! The two hens who sat on them are enjoying there little one as well. Things are looking better. Also have one more in the bator almost hatched but I am a little nervous of integration. I think if I wait till he is as energized as the others he will be fine.

I hope you understand by "punishment" Idon't mean to hurt him, simply make his life uncomfortable and he will feel like that is a punishment. Pain and fear are not good training tools.
When I went to get them some water and check their feeders he tired to get my finger when i was unclogging the feeder and I just put my left are up and moved him back. He tried again and I did the same thing I just moved him away from the feeder and my finger. After the second time he just walked away. So maybe that is all I need to do. The problem with the feeder is this feed it is more fine and it is not coming thru the way the crumbles do. But I will be using the rest of this feed and be done with it. I am only using it because it is 28% for the turkey and the jersey giants.

Momma has four poults. Holy chicken dribble are they cute!!!
Question: Is jake safe to let out now or no?
Everyone has their own opinion but I probably wouldn't just yet. I'd wait until they could get around and protect themselves a little bit better. sue

Thank you ladies! My DH is off this weekend and I am going to have him help me with the food and water and Big Bird this morning to get him to behave!
If you are trying to cure aggression, then, you might want to try pinning him to the ground like a wrestler, or if he isn't too heave, picking him up and carrying him restrained. It shows him who is in charge and ALPHA, in your flocks.....YOU ! If I get a tom try to get out of hand or bossy, that's what I do. Toms get the message after once or twice. I hand raise all of my flocks from hatching and they follow me around and want to see everything I am doing, but I do not have any that are in the least bit aggressive toward me or Hubby. I also never run from any domestic animal or show any fear. If you run, they take that as your submissiveness to them and it will get worse. I have geese and once one of them tried to approach me from behind, with his head down, well, all it took was turning around and grabbing his neck, without using any pressure, just holding it for a half minute and it has never happened again. If I see any of them put their head down, as I pass them, all I have to do is point my finger at it and immediate change of attitude. If I ever had an animal that actually attacked me, they would be supper that very night, before any of the others got any bad ideas.

Hi Celie, Thank you for your helpful advice! I do appreciate it very much. I may have to pick him up and hold him if he tries it again (Thanks for bringing that up). I forgot that with my two brown leghorn roosters and they quit flying at me. He is only a 4 month old so I will keep working on it to get it to stop!

Quote: Great!! During this time you can teach the new behaviors!! I deal with 1000# (typo)horses, it works the same way. It is a simple concept but takes a little thinking to find a non violent solution. SOmetimes a lot of thinking. . . lol, sometimes the solution just pops up.
