She started out with 11 but I found 3 in the run which looked like they were eaten. I took 3 this morn that were cracked. So she has 5 left. I don't even know if they are good or not. I debated on searching craigslist for some turkey or duck eggs for her to sit on but I think I will give her a chance with these ones and leave her be.

I just checked Craigslist in your state and someone is selling 5 week old poults for $22.00 and you have to buy at least 2 !!!!!!!!!!! WOW !!!!!!!!!!!! :th

And someone is selling turkey eggs for $1.00. That's cheap.

Someone else is selling poults for $6.00 and a dozen eggs for $6.00.

Amazing how prices differ from place to place.

AGH I am so mad at myself. I decided to candle my broody turkeys egg when she hopped off this morn to eat. Well 3 looked to have cracks in them, maybe she stepped on them. Well I decided to open them to see if they were clear or what. And the one with only a faint crack was alive AGH and I killed it. Im so mad!!! To make matters worse my luck is really bad, I candled my Broody chicken hens eggs last night and she is a devilish little thing as I was putting her egg back under her she growled and pecked it hard.

I need to stop touching things and let nature take its course. Im just nervous they wont end up with chicks or poults and they will have gone all those days for nothing. Sigh.

Don't beat yourself up over it! We all make mistakes and if we are wise, we learn from them! Life has learning experiences that teach us what to do and also what not to do. I think you made a wise decision to just leave her alone with her remaining eggs! We will all run into the same problems and your post might save countless others from the same mistake, so your little guy did nut die for nothing, since you shared this with others and I thank you for sharing!

If you were to put more eggs under her, they would hatch at different times and one of the two groups might be abandoned !

Deep breathe!!

live and learn-- cut yourself some slack. After doing just what you have done, I don't candle eggs under broodies. I put a date on at best. ANd check for eggs added by other hens. ANd when I pull out the eggs my hand is now between hen and egg because gosh darn those hens can miss and put a hole in an egg!! $^$^*#*#*(#((&$ I resist opening eggs now too. Wait u til they oooze-- looks like tree sap on a pine.

Yup maybe it will be for nothing-- but candling won't change a darn thing. BUt it does satisfy our curiosity!!!

All my turkeys are sold. 36 hours after posting. And the nice thing was they all said that they were buying them for decoration in their yards. Whether they are or not it's a nice feeling for me and now I have a few $ in my pocket. So, now I'm down 12 chickens and 4 adult turkeys going into fall. It leaves me with 22 layers, 2 roo's, a coop with 4 Silkie mixes/Sizzles and 11 BCM chicks. Plus a Tom and 2 hen adult turkeys. It still sounds like a lot, doesn't it?

One of My Slate Blue turkey is now so blind that even when I hold food if front of his face he cannot see it. He knows where his food dishes are and does eat. But now I know he just follows the others around. I don't know what to do with the poor thing.
