I could only fit 6 goose eggs in my incubator when I layed them down

but I could fit 12 when I stood them up. This weekend is "Bator Time".

Yep, I'm dying for another bator too, I've got one empty that I want to use as a hatcher but I know I'm going to fill it up with eggs soon. I need a GREAT BIG ONE!!!

A funny thing happened today, that you might enjoy hearing. DH has a habit of throwing his lit cigarette butts onto the wet grass after finishing his first cigarette of the morning. Well in all this rain, we have had a lot of wet grass mornings. So this morning he threw the butt just as some of the toms were coming around the side of the house, to see if the dogs had left any food on their plates, like they do every morning, and when they saw Hubby, toss that butt, they all come running. The first one to reach picked it up in his beak, like he was smoking it, then when 2 of them could not stop in time on the wet grass, they piled into him, knocking it out of his mouth. The fourth tom, then had it and the chase began. We were so afraid that one of them would get burned, so we tried to take it away! Those turkeys were running all over the place, grabbing the cigarette from each other. I am sure it was a funny sight, about a dozen turkeys playing football with that butt, and us 2 crazy people slipping and sliding, to try to catch the one with it, before he could pass it to one of his team mates. We were both soaked and gave up, exhausted. Then a chicken hen picked it when the tom finally dropped it, brought it to the porch and put it into the dog's plate and waited for her reward! LOL

Too funny!!!!!!! What a great story. Thanks for the laugh.

I posted this on another thread and I wanted to share this with you all.

For those of you that know I'm a big recycler, I wanted to share this little recycling project with you. WalMart has all of their left over Valentine stuff on sale. So, I saw a basket that had boxes of chocolate candy on sale for $0.10, so I bought about 30 of the boxes for my co-workers and friends that are chocolate lovers. Well, as I was looking at the RED candy box, a light went off. The base of a lot of the store bought feeders are red, so I thought it couldn't hurt to make this out of a feeder. Being as though I have 3 baby poults born this past weekend and they really don't need a large feeder, I thought the size of this one would be perfect. So, I asked my co-workers to give me the empty containers when they were done with it. I made a few cuts here and there to the candy box and put some crumble in and there you have it.

A recycled feeder! Not sure how well this would work for a large number of chicks but it seems to be working fine for my 3 stooges (poults). And they can't tip it over.

I am with you there. Now that the geese have laid a few eggs each, they are getting bigger, which means fewer fit in the incubator: It went from 17 down to 11). I went to tractor supply YET AGAIN yesterday and got another Little Giant foam incubator and turner. (I now have the Brinsea, plus 4 Little Giants)
When I got home, I took out three of the egg rails from the turner. Then I made little U-shaped baskets out of hardware cloth that were the length of each rail and about 2 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall on both sides. I zip tied them to the rails, put some non-skid shelf liner in them and filled them with goose eggs. The turner motor seems to be able to keep up pretty will with 9 goose eggs and 6 duck eggs on the remaining rails.
Now, all I need is ANOTHER fan kit. By the time this is over, my husband would have been money ahead to just let me get the Sportsman!
