Thanks for the links! The second one seemed correct... at 20 weeks my hens are 8.5lbs, and the toms are about 15lbs.

Our MWs are ridiculously friendly. I call them my lap turkeys. As soon as I sit down the hens hop into my lap for a snuggle. The toms prefer to just lean against my leg and put their heads in my lap. They do tend to get a bit jealous if other chickens are getting attention and try to chase them off, which can be a problem when I'm trying to fix leg bands, etc..

How do you like the breast size on the MW? Steve ( sandspoultry)mentions that the Beltsville and the MW were the last to be bred as commerical birds so their breast meat is larger than the other heritage breeds. What do you think?

I have thought of tracking down MW as they were developed here in Mass.

Turkey question:

My turkeys like to roost on top of my mobile chicken coop. They do have access to go in the coop any time (and one does), at least until the auto door shuts at night. Over the summer, this has not been a problem. But it has rained here in Indiana for two days now, and the weather is getting ready to turn colder. Do I need to worry as it gets colder? I don't really have anywhere set up for them to get out of the weather yet. Will they go in the coop if it gets nasty?
