Hi. We have 3 turkeys. Had them about a month. They live in the hothouse/greenhouse and have access to a large outside area. Up until a couple of days ago they spent most of their time outdoors. Now they seem to prefer sitting on the ground in the hothouse. The weather has been about 10deg celcius. They have access to enough food. There is one male and 2 females. The tom has been mating with one of the hens at least, but this can only have been happening for a short time.

My question is this - is it normal for them to laze around in their coop rather than stay outside? Thanks

Mine generally choose outside over inside. Are they perhaps making dustbaths in the dirt? I don't think I would worry as long as they are acting normal otherwise.

If your greenhouse has a lot of windows, they may feel like they're "outside" anyway. Turkeys hang out wherever is most comfortable. My tom has been spending most of his days recently sitting in the "cooling puddles" I keep making for the birds due to the heat - before it got hot, he spent most of his time trying to get in my front door. I also wouldn't worry about it too much as long as there's nothing else funny going on.
