My white broad breasted girls are 7 month old and they’ve started laying eggs about a month ago ( sometime in August). And they are in a full breeding mood and still laying in October! I thought turkeys are seasonal layers and only breed and lay in spring ??? 🤷‍♀️

The BBWs have been bred to lay at anytime of the year so that the meat industry is never lacking for them.

While heritage turkeys typically start laying in the spring, they can have their laying patterns altered by adding supplemental lights. I have two Sweetgrass hens still laying eggs now because I did not let them have a clutch to go broody on.
