I wanted to order a few turkeys to have for Thanksgiving. Having fresh turkey
and giving away a few fresh birds to close friends and family would have been
great. Trouble is no hatcheries have any. Moyers can ship on 9/11 but they need
at least 90 days to mature and even that is young.

Oh well there's always next year.

As slowly as my turkeys seem to be growing getting them in April and growing them out until late November is still a smallish bird. I can't imagine my turkeys now being large enough to butcher at Thanksgiving. Perhaps when the weather begins to cool a bit they will start to gain weight. I have no real idea

I don't keep the with the chickens. They have their own room in the barn. I am waiting until next March and then I am ordering Bourbon Reds. I want to try my hand at raising a heritage breed.

Could be the hatcheries have the same problem I did this year the turkeys went on strike right in the usual height of laying season:| my hens up and stopped for 2 months and now just started laying again the weather really effects them too hot too much rain or too cold they stop laying them bratts!
