Hi there, I have three 7 month old turkeys, 1 Tom and 2 hens, they have been doing well and their coop is 10'x5' with mulch bedding, they eat dumor all flock and I've had them since they were chicks. They free roam during the day on about 1 acre with a chainlink dog fence. I do have a flock of chickens but they are kept separately.
Yesterday I was feeding the turkeys and collecting eggs and noticed my bourbon red hen had two bumps (one on cheek and one on neck) that look like pimples or abcesses, she didn't seem bothered when I touched them and they are firm with scab heads on them, I inspected the other two turkeys and found my Tom had a similar looking bump on his neck. They are eating, pooping, and acting normal, no other abnormalities or illness that I can see or notice.
I was wondering if anyone had seen something like this on turkeys or chickens?
I am not sure if this is avain pox, abcesses, or just irritated/infected peck wounds from each other since they are laying and the Tom does mount both hens but seems to favor the red hen. Any advice or insight would be appreciated, I'm not sure if I should take them to the vet since they seem to be doing well just have a few bumps, if the bumps do not show any improvement within 5 days they will be going for a vet visit
