Turkeys...

How do I tell the gender of turkeys? I bought these two about seven weeks ago. I have no clue what breed they are or if they are male or female. (What's the right word for male and female turkeys?) I bought them both at TSC. I asked the employee and he tried to argue that they were geese because they were in the geese bin lol If any of you could tell me the breed or gender I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Sounds like it's a bit of a guessing game until they are 5-6months old and starting to mature. From what I can tell girls are hens, juvenile boys are Jake's which changes to Tom when they mature. Girls keep a strip of feathers right up to the top of their heads but boys lose this. Hope that's helped a bit.
