#!@!^% Turkeys!

We had both turkeys and Guineas do this same thing. It was too funny, til DH said sell them or pen them, as he was not happy with their poo in our rain water collection.
You can always clip wings...but I do not advise that on free ranging birds.

HA!! We clipped our turkeys wings, they promptly flew to the roof of the well house (outside their enclosure) and rain poops down on anyone without the sense to look up (me). As fast as I got up the ladder, and back down with an 18 pound bird, another would fly up. finally I decided they could have this one. they flew down to eat and drink so I was happy. Besides... their day is coming, let them enjoy this win.

When mine were juveniles, they would do that too. we couldn't risk leaving them out at night because we live so close to the city. but once they got older, they grew out of it. now, when it gets dark, they go to their pen on their own. i can't say the same for all birds, but i thought i would add some input to the mix.

Mature turkeys are way better mannered than those young ones. Thankfully they grow out of it, otherwise I wouldn't be keeping any long term.

Turkeys are heavy and strong, I would not be grabbing them at night.

Ive done it a few times now. Never had an issue. But then my babes know me well and are handled often

Turkeys like to roost outside where it is cooler, they can overheat quick inside a coop
