When do you order to be ready for Thanksgiving? I'm really thinking in advance here, haha.

It depends if you want the heritage type breeds or the commercial breeds.

Heritage breeds you want to order in March-April.

Commercial you want to order in Jun-Aug.... depending on how big you want them.

We get our in the middle of July and the toms are about 18-24 lbs and the hens are about 12-16 lbs. Which works perfect for us.

You are not far in the future with your thinkings. We try and get in 8-6 months of growth. Early may for T-day and June for x mas, these would be the late set dates for a decent bird for heritage birds.

My heritage birds take about 26-28 weeks to get to processing weight.

I'd just order when it's convenient, butcher when they're the size you want, and throw them in the freezer.
