Turkeys

Hi guys! I just joined BYC. I have 5 turkeys. My bronze Tom had mites around his tail, top and bottom. I dusted him and the mites appear to be gone. My problem now is he had yellow scabs in that area. Are these the result of the mites? He is entered in the fair and I don't want to blow my chances because I could have been doing more. He is in the market class. Help!

I should have taken a picture, but I was so busy trying to clean him up. Some of it peeled off willingly. Some of it left a few raw spots. Overall I am pretty sure it was a by product of the mites. I dusted him head to toe and he is pretty much bug and scab free. He dust bathed regularly, but he is a good size Tom.
