In the spring, I bought a small coop from the folks at ranch-coop.com.

It made a fantastic broody coop for our bantam hen and her two hatched chicks.

They stayed in it most of the day and got to free range in the evenings most days in the summer. But with daylight savings time coming to an end, I wouldn't be able to get home in time to let them out, so we needed an addition!

So we raised the coop up, giving them more access to the ground. Here's what we came up with!

The ramp can close up with a pvc pipe held up with cheap cabinet handles.

The original coop sits right on top and the floor is raised slightly, keeping it pretty rock solid.

I am pretty pleased with the result, so just wanted to share!

And now I have room for more chickens! ;)

Looks great and I think your ramp closure with cabinet handles is really clever!

Nice job!
