TURNING GROUND OVER

I had a idea yesterday and took my shovel out to the run and dug several holes and put the dirt back in the hole. This would help keep fresh soil on top of the run and allow it to not get as packed and reduce the amount of nitrogen on top. Also I found several worms and bugs which they loved and they really liked the overturned soil was a new favorite treat. I believe this is something everyone can do what are your opions of this idea?

I think it is a great idea. On another thread someone mentioned tilling the run. As soon as my new Mantis Tiller gets here on Monday, I plan on doing just that!! I think the chickens will love the fresh soil and I will love that it smells better!!

Till mine at least once a month. Keeps the girls busy for several days. I over turn worms the size of garter snakes when I do this and of course the race is on.
The girls have learned the meaning of the tiller...WORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
