Hello friends,
We are now at the point where we need to build the coop and run. I have 26 RIR chicks (1 wk old). I plan to use some for laying eggs and some for meat birds. Or start them all as layers and get White Rocks for meat so I can tell them apart by color.

So, I guess my main question is for building the coop and run is ... should I split the coop in half and build 2 runs to keep the meat and layers seperate or put them together ?

If there is a way to set it up for egg layers, meat birds, and a rooster / reproduction area that would be best.

Maybe I need to weigh the differance in hatching them vs buying new chicks.

Whatever good advice you have to give would be great and might just set me on a better course to build a better coop and run for my needs.
Thanks in advance.

If you have white rocks I would grow them all together. If in fact you got Cornish Cross, I would separate them, the Cornish will only be around for 6 or 7 weeks anyhoot.
