turning up beaks at their food

@chickens really
I know what you mean. Its funny how people believe there bettering there feed by fermenting it.
I wonder how many people that force there birds to eat fermented feeds understand that some microbes feed on vitamin B and that vitamin B deficiency in poultry can cause a ton of problems like, results in reduced weight gain and feed intake (one of the very things they brag so much about is that there birds eat less. Hum, could it be a deficiency in B vitamins), along with poor feathering and nervous disorders, anemia, gizzard erosion, and fatty infiltration of the heart, liver, and kidneys.
Poultry on fermented feeds also have problems metabolizing nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

Exactly but you might of opened up a huge debate that I will not take part in...Glad you know nutrition and Chickens..

Most likely will be a debate, but Iv been there before. lol
I look at it like this, there are people on here that want to learn and if i can help i will.
If that means me having debates over a feed, feeding methods, nutrition etc then that's fine as long as one person learns something.

I would stop fermenting there feed and cut the treats out.
The fermentation of there feed can be making there feed imbalanced and the the treats will through there nutritional intake off also.

Too much hype on fermented feed that actually can cause crop issues in Ducks and Chickens also Mould growth..A risk I would never take...

I thought I was the lone stranger when it came to my opinion about fermented feed. I don't spend money to feed yeasts and bacterium and I want my chickens to eat what they need not more of something because they like it. But there are fans of it. To each their own.

I feed pellets. They don't particularly like em. My feed dollars go 50% further and my chickens aren't skinny and are laying eggs 5-6 days a week now all without fermenting feed.

I just Wet my feed, but trying to get them to eat dry crumbles. They won't eat pellets.

But let's not Bash fermenting and help this person.

Maybe just try to Wet the feed the night before. This is what I have been doing and they are a bit more receptive to it. But I still wonder if blue seal has something going on like a feed ingredient change OR a Supplier change ?
This happens with Dog food a lot.

Mine have always been on crumble. Won’t eat pellets. They’ve seemed a bit skinny, but had a negative fecal sample, so just the last 3 days or so, I’ve been dampening some feed in the morning and late afternoon to entice them to eat more. I’ve added a little Calf Manna Performance Supplement to boost their protein, but this will only be short term. They love the damp feed, especislly when I add the Calf Manna. They have access to as much dry layer crumble as they want, along with free choice oyster shell.

Imo, there are only 3 reasons chickens will go off feed. They are sick, they're meeting their minimal nutritional requirements with a more attractive low feed value option or the feed is bad. Just because it's a new bag of feed doesn't mean the entire lot of feed isn't spoiled and buying another bag out of the same lot from somewhere else won't solve the problem. Chickens will not starve themselves to death if a fresh, unspoiled poultry ration is available no matter the form. If they are attending a free range buffet all day every day they will be on the lean side and not lay very well because, well that is their preferred choice. That is their nature.

Chickens are not apt to waste feed when given pellets and it will seem like they are not eating it. They quickly learn there is no treasure nuggets of corn to look for. Chickens do not clean up the mash or crumbles they flip out looking for the tasty corn morsels. It just melts into the ground or into the coop litter.

Because of the nature of their eating of nibbling and pecking here and there chickens actually consume more feed per nibble at the feeder on a pellet ration versus the tiny pieces of of mash and crumbles are available.

If they aren't sick, if they aren't free ranging or being given to much low quality scratch and the poultry feed is fresh, not spoiled, rancid or moldy they will eat it when they get hungry.

It's not complicated and it is that simple.
