Turtles Escaped!!!

I woke up this morning, walked into my kitchen, and found my 1 year old Mississippi Map Turtle on the floor. He was alive and was in good condition, but he was out of his cage. We have a ten gallon tank with the two baby turtles that is filled up with water. they have a basking platform that is about two in. away from the top of the tank. they would of had to somehow climb to the top of the tank, jump out, survive a 4 feet drop from the bookcase that the tank is on. then make their way down the STAIRCASE!!!! , and crawl to my kitchen. one turtle made it downstairs, one only made it ten feet. besides removing 2 gallons of water, what should i do?

Is there a top on the enclosure? If not you might get some screen fom the hardware store and fasten some over the top. I bet they're like children in a crib. Once they figure the way out it's hard to keep them in.

Oh yea Barred rocks do rock! They're my favorite chickens!!!
