Twin duck eggs

I have a feeling lockdown is going to be around day 23

These ducks take 28 days incubation?

Day 20
I’m getting excited
I could see all 4 moving but it’s getting pretty dark and hard to tell if they are on sides fully now and no longer top and bottom
Air cells have grown since I marked them Friday but still much smaller then my regular eggs would be
I’m so glad I did this or the babies would be out of room already
Any veins I can see look really good
I will try for a video tomorrow and will probably be my last one as it’s very hard to see anything
But I will put my phone on record when hatching begins
I really want to catch that on video even if I have to help it will be neat to see two come from one egg
I have a feeling lockdown is going to be around day 23 but I will play it by the babies and what changes I see if they are trying to turn , eggs rocking , shadowing on air cell and air cell drops ect
Many little things let us know when they are ready for lockdown

These ducks take 28 days incubation?

For a normal single egg yes ( usually)
But these guys looked much more advanced early on
Day 11 looked like a day 14 embryo
We have to keep in mind twins often come early in humans and many that try to incubate twins never consider needing smaller air cells and possible early lockdown
I am going by the babies and not the book set days
I have had very high 90-100 % hatch rates with my regular batches by following the babies and not the book as I have had them hatch anywhere from day 25-30
The school had the early hatch and my broody duck had the late hatch
So I have learned to look for signs and allow the babies to guide me

Day 21
Wow this has really gone by so fast
I tried to candle today and it’s getting so hard to see
In egg 2 I can no longer see anything on the pointy end it’s completely dark
I believe on baby is on top and other on the bottom as I have more empty space in the bottom half of the egg
Egg 1 I can see in the pointy end a bit bit have less open bottom space
This makes me think I have one on each side of the egg
I could see veins and movement
I won’t be doing a video as I had hoped
So far all looks good
Crossing my fingers and toes !
