I have raised 4 hens from chicks but as a first timer I don’t think we have the right coop etc to handle the heat we’ve been having and 1 of our hens died from heat stroke yesterday. One died a yr ago from an animal attack and we can’t see the benefit of only keeping two. I love these girls but I think they will be better off in a new home.
So…anyone in the area of Katy, TX who has a good setup and just wants a couple extra laying hens please let me know. You can also have the coop and whatever supplies we have left if you want it.

@Kiki is there a Texas string here? I know Texas is huge but at least it will be more helpful.

In the meantime does your coop have shade? Can you add rooster booster to their water? Offer frozen berries, cut up cucumber, herbs, lettuce? Put a brick in an aluminum roasting pan full it with ice and cold water so they can stand on it and cool off. Can you post pictures of your set up?

If you have a prefab coop I can assure you it isn't good enough for our area.
You'll have the best luck at rehoming them if you put them on Craigslist for free.
I'm just down the road from you.
