Yes, they can have medicated chick starter. "Great Value" peas from walmart work fine (Basically, regular peas, with no salt). I put in 100mg of niacin per gallon of water. You can buy the Flushed version at walgreens.

The Niacin you can get at the Vitamin counter, mine came in the green bottle in 500mg caps. I open the cas and guesstimate 100mg and I add it to a 1gal water jug and keep it next to my brooder. That is the only water my ducks get when they are little. I also pour Pedialite in their water, I dont measure..just pour it in their water bowl then add the Niacin water to it. . You can also get chick helper I think its called from TSC. Comes in a little $1 packet and you mix it in with 1 gall ...let me go get a pack an dcheck....Sorry. its called Sav-A-Chick, comes in a blue pack with a green top and has a pic of chickens and a mallard duckling on the front...says. 1 pack mixes into 1 gal of water. Just took a photo...let me load it. I buy these little packs by the arm full and add to te big ducks water once a week on a Friday to keep myself straight and thats when they get their Niacin too

So you could realy make up 1 water jug with this and pour a bit into their water and have another water jug with their Niacin. (100mg to 1 gal water)
So put it on your shopping list with Peas and you should have happy healthy ducks.

So, I can buy flushed niacin capsule and estimate about 100mg for a gallon of water correct? And my ducklings won't touch the peas!!

I'm pretty sure she will be just fine. When I got my original 6 ducklings, I had two that would rest. But I didn't do anything special for them and now they are all outside big, fat and happy. Ducklings have thick legs and they are new borns, they need time to exercise their muscles so they can run a marathon...

Just buy game bird starter crumbles. It contains all the niacin need for your ducks. When they get to be about 4-5 months old switch to game bird grower pellets (which also contains niacin).
