Two Broodies?

The sister of my broody has been sitting in front of the nesting box.She isn't acting broody though, yet.When they were chicks, they were practically glued together.Is it the sister thing,They are the only hens I have.Is she lonely and wants to be with her sister?Please help me, They are the best chickens I've ever had I need to know if they want to be broody together.

Some chickens do become attached to each other. I have two sisters that are inseparable and freak out if they can't be together, they sleep next to each other, do everything the other does. Many times sister hens will share incubation duties and raising the babies.

Give this hen an over all exam to make sure she is not ill, and if she is fine, I would just let her be. If she really wants to be near her sister, she will crawl right into the nest box with her! I would keep food and water right outside the nest box for both the broody and the sister hen so they both get nourishment.

When one of my hens went broody a few months ago my little bantam hen did the same thing, though they didn't grow up together and there were a few more chickens in the coop, she preferred hanging out in front of the broody box. Once the chicks hatched she lost interest though and ignored the broody and her new babies.
