We have three khaki campbells between 4-5 weeks. One is quacking away and two others are still making baby sounds. It makes me think I have two boys...also, do the male KCs have darker heads than the females? They are still fuzzy on the heads, but two are clearly darker and neither quacks.
If it is the case that there are two boys we will have to cull one (I know they are not great meat birds, but what can we do

). Is one hen and one drake okay or will we have to go out and look for another female?

I had a very quiet mallard hen last year. I thought the same thing, she must be a boy. It's hard to tell by how talkative they are. LOL You might be able to trade on craigslist. Some people end up with too many hens, and no drakes and may want one.

In a perfect world that would happen! I'll hope they quack, but if not I'll keep an eye out on CL.

Sometimes I cant tell for sure about the sex until they are 6 weeks old. Its a boy, no its a girl, no its def a boy lol. they sure can keep you guessing. I hope for you its not 2 boys, but a ratio of 1:1 can work for some. Maybe you could even advertise just for a swap.
