Two drakes per duck?

My coop is actually pretty big and can probably comfortably fit 6 or 7 more ducks. I think my parents are just worried about the mess and there really is not a way to get around that especially the mud problem. You just have to except that ducks are messy creatures

Our pen isn't messy, seems to me. Good drainage, a good base on the ground, I think it can be kept pretty well. It takes time to sort it out, it ain't easy, but I feel it is doable.

I am not being critical, I am trying to encourage you to keep working on a system that will minimize the mess.

X2 Your pen will be messy unless you have a system, as Amiga has told you. It is much better to set up your system before you get any ducks, that way you can change, modify, and improve as you go.

What systems have worked for you?

Deep Litter Method, a place for the compost that DLM Creates, sand over landscape fabric, a plan for water, dog igloo houses, an outdoor pen, and a barn. :) Your best bet is to spend some time reading in The Learning Center. Good Luck.

Mud definitely is a duck thing, kinda like holes with chickens(boy they dig!) yes, a system helps but still at the end of the day.. ducks are messy and that is a fact.
