Two Eggs, One Day.

Still say you missed an egg. There has never been a case of two full eggs in one day from a chicken as their cycle does not permit it. Fairy eggs are another story as they aren’t full formed eggs.
It absolutely does happen. Internet facts are one thing. What people actually see when they have hens individually penned proves them wrong.

Exactly. I am eagerly anticipating the first egg, have individually housed hens, often waiting on the appearance of the first egg to give them a nest box, lest they get fouled by being put in too early. Then I watch and count eggs, to make sure a cock bird isn't trampling them while trying to breed the hen, or to make sure they aren't eating them.

This is why it is so ridiculous to suggest that I missed an egg. I didn't miss an egg from that hen, because I have been anxiously awaiting her next clutch which has long been spoken for, (any that I'm not keeping). Every third day I put a selected cock bird in with her, for a supervised visit. I don't want a single egg broken, I want her to lay a nice clutch of decent sized eggs without being overly pestered.

I'm sure whatever birds the university studied when they came up with these oft repeated facts were nothing like my birds. Not likely a university could get their hands on any like mine. Doubt a breeder would waste birds on a university, and doubt a university could come up with enough funds to change that.
