Two of hens spent a decent amount of time in the nest today. Probably 15-20 min each. Just wondering if they are okay? One of the hens has had some trouble before but has been good recently. The other one has been flawless. Does the heat have anything to do with it? One more question, one of my hens was attacked by something (I think a fox) a few weeks ago and I was wondering if she will lay again? I know she has laid at least one egg since the attack but that was at least 2 weeks ago. The hen that was attacked was not one having trouble today, she was in the nest for a little bit yesterday though. She still squats. Any answers?

I've seen that sort of thing off and on. Sometimes I think they misread their own body signals, then have to go back later when the real signal comes.

It's very good news that the one who was attacked by a fox has laid since. I would guess she is still feeling traumatized by the attack. She should recover but it can take them some time.

I agree that they might misread their body signals. My BA hen can sit in the nest box for up to two hours before she lays. I think she just likes to sit though.
