Well, 2 of those 3 original test eggs are out. They were shrink wrapped, today they are all the way out. Weak but hopefully tomorrow morning I will be able to move them to the brooder.
The other batches of test eggs and 1st go aheads are all growing nicely. Brown Dots are due hmm, next week I'd say. Rest have another week after the Browns and maybe a week and a half for the rest. Even with all the crazy temp changes, they develop, nice!
I've got 21[+w/e they laid today] eggs out in the coop. Idk if I should eat them, feed them back or save a few and place them in the brooder...
Hope they stopped laying in the yard, I have no idea where they could be if they are still laying out there...I've checked every leaf pile, anything layered, fence line, nothing.
No one else is thinking of going broody, got two piles of the 21 eggs, no one has stepped up to the plate, so to speak. My Silkies are all too young, or is a rooster, lol.

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know. Will get pictures tomorrow after work. Will post hatching's of the other eggs here too. So check back weekly.

Ok, this one baby hasn't gotten up, lays on it's side all day. She does wiggle and kick to move away from the heat lamp. But she has not gotten up, eyes closed, peps every now and then. I have to bring a droplet of water to her beak for her to drink. What do I do??

Thanks, I'd get pics now, but they look a little sad and I don't think they want the world looking at them just yet, lol.

I moved the two out into the brooder. They are still just chilling out, they seem a bit premature or maybe just weak since temps were low last 2+ days. They peep every now and then. I do also flip them on their other side, at least tonight, every 1hr or so. Expect them to be more mobile tomorrow, up after work at least. Any extra help/insight?

Made a new 'water wiggler' since temps were at 95F, now they are showing turn off at 100F.

Jap chick, the bigger of the two didn't make it...The other is peeping and wiggling, but not up or anything yet. Oh the stress.

Ok, well I did some stand ups with the chick and gave her some warm sugar water. Shes a bit more active and peeping more. Will keep up the stand ups.

She is newly hatched, she won't eat yet.

I don't get how they can be out of the egg, breathing, wiggling and then the lethal gene hits. Most of my Japs have medium to long legs and then some hens are mixed with D'uccle too.

i had the same thing happen with mine 2 days ago.. he semmed week and didnt wanna move or anything.. but i got up today to turn the rest and he hopping around and chirping like crazy. just make sure he stays warm and make sure he dries off and he'll be fine tomorrow or so.

good luck!

TSC should have a 'Chick Saver' or something like that that you add to water you can use an eye dropper and feed it to them that way. Maybe that will help? Im hoping for the best!

Sorry. Wasn't trying to spam. Just asking because me, and Urban Chaos are working on a project for nifty, and we needed photos, so I figured if you had any, then you could possibly help us out. I apologize if I spammed your thread.
