Hi, Is It possibile to keep two male rheas together in a 300 sq mt enclosure? They are still sexually immature, my questione Is if they will end up fighting when mature, even without females. Simple competitive show off will not be a problem, i just want to be sure they do not injure themselves.

thanks

We had a Rhea when I was a kid and it became very aggressive to everything, including the horses, goats and people around it, when it became a sexually mature male. This was in the absence of any other Rheas.
Do not know if this helps much.
Good luck, they are super cool birds. 😊

Thanks for your feedback, i think they may be exceptions but my question Is about "most of the cases". For example my breeder friend (from witch i will take 2 youngsters) had two males along with females. One dominated without particular violence, but he has very large enclosure.

Since i want at least a male the other option is to keep brother and sister but in this way (even avoiding hatching) It Will end up in nesting and protecting an so guaranteed aggressivity.

Do you have chicks available, or from your friend? What kind of rheas are they ?

2 males together like that can live together, they won't be happy. send a fence through their enclosure creating separate living habitats. maybe then they will find serenity.
