Yeah...that doesn't work with chickens very well.
But as others have said, it's possible that he will hear your hens and come back within a day or so.
He will need to be in the coop with the hens for a few days before you let him out...and definitely quarantine him for at least 2 weeks to make sure he doesn't have any poultry diseases before exposing your girls to him.
