I have 1 buff Orpington chick that is still in the brooder and she looked good nothing wrong that night then the next morning I went out and she was dead. I also have a Partridge Wyandotte bantam pullet she looked fine in the morning and that night I went out and found her dead both of them looked healthy before they died I have had lots of chickens over the years and I know what a sick chicken looks like some people call me the chicken doctor because I have had quite a few sick chickens I take the sick or hurt one away from the others and put them in the shop quite a few of them have got better. but those ones I have always been able to tell when they are sick but there was nothing wrong at all with those two.

the buff orpington was in the brooder which is a water tank and I am feeding them medicated chick feed here is what the brooder looks like. the Partridge Wyandotte was hatched in March so she was in a coop she was getting I know it is chick feed but I don't know for certain if it is medicated or non-medicated chick feed. here is what her coop looks like she isn't in any of these pictures

Are you checking the chicks for pasty butt? What temperature is the brooder? Can they get away from the heat source?

Not sure why the older one passed. Is it hot in the coop? Did she die over night? Sometimes they can get frightened and fly up at night and hit the wall and break their neck.

I always look very close at the chicks every night and she did not have pasty butt she looked just fine. the brooder is the perfect temperature and they can move away from the heat lamps. for the older one i went out that morning and she looked fine then that night i went in and she was dead.

Without further symptoms or clues it can be impossible to guess why they passed. Some just do. They could have had some internal birth defect. You just may never know why unfortunately.
