Two of our five pullets injured themselves flying around their run when a fox came to visit this morning. One of them seems okay except for her bloody comb - I just separated her because another pullet was pecking her wound. The other injured one is sitting in the coop in a nesting box, not eating or drinking. I have the door to the coop closed so that she is separated, too. She has blood on her beak and comb.

Other than cleaning them up and putting Blukote on their wounds, is there anything else we need to do? Do we need to keep them both separate until their wounds are completely healed?

One of the injured birds is an Easter Egger and the other an Amberlink. They are five months old, not laying yet.

Thank you for any help!

They may be a bit in shock right now. I would keep them separate from the flock until they are acting normal. Are you doing anything to discourage the fox ?
I’m sorry - didn’t see this until just now. I got pretty much the same advice from the local chicken group. Kept the two injured birds separated, put Blue Kote on their combs. They clearly recovered enough by the next morning to let them back in with the rest, and they’ve healed well. As to the fox, there’s not a lot we can do to keep him away completely. He can’t get in the run and he hasn’t tried. I haven’t seen him since that day.
