Two Pullets Passed in Two Days

Avian flu is going to kill the entire flock...quickly.
Any chance you've got the avian flu that's going around?
Just gonna brush that voodoo past 🥲 but on a serious note, I’m hopeful that’s not the case, been checking everyone regularly today. No one is mucousy or lethargic, older girls were doing dust bathes in the dirt by the fence and young girls were with their brother roo scrounging for whatever they could find outside the run. Everyone gave me a struggle putting them up temporarily while my wife exited the property. Don’t wana take the chance the free range past our gate into the street.

I wouldn't worry one second about it.
It's been going around for a long time and I haven't seen anyone yet to deal with it in their flock of backyard chickens.

👍. I'm just saying if you have been feeding treats regularly since you got them...it could be part of the problem. Not feeding treats for one week is good but wouldn't make a difference IF they had been feed too much over time.

What state are you in?
I'll give you a direct link to your state lab.
It hasn’t been too regularly, like I said it’s just if we have left overs. 1-2 times a week is being generous as my 3 young sons don’t like to leave leftovers very often😂.

I live in California.

Perfect. I'm not mistaken you have three state labs there and it's only 20 or $25 to get the test done.

Looking at it now, appreciate it. I am guessing tsc would have specimen containers?
A trash bag, ice and Styrofoam cooler will work.

Nothing special needed.

Hold. I'll find instructions on how to refrigerate a body to ship. Be right back.

This is what my state lab suggests.

Actually now that I think about it, you might just want to start a new post with the link to your coops under the “coop & run” section, and ask for ventilation help there. 😊 The best people to suggest might not be on top of the emergencies threads.

Good luck.
