What age should I switch my chickens from purina chick starter to purina flock raiser? What do you guys put your oyster shells? Can I just put them in another regular feeder?

Flock raiser and/or gamebird is all I feed, I never even use starter. Mine all free range together so it works better for me to use something that they all can eat. I put oyster shell our free choice in a seperate container (I use a large rabbit feeder attached to a piece of scrap hardware cloth stapled to the inside of the coop.) The youngsters and the roos ignore it and the laying hens chow down. I do keep a bottle of corid on hand in case of a cocci outbreak, but I haven't needed to use it yet.

ETA: If you go with the gamebird make sure it's the 20% or 22% because it comes in mixes that carry up to 28% and that is too high for general use.

You can switch them anytime it is an all purpose feed. As for oyster shell I put it in a kitty litter jug.
