Help, please. This will be my first incubation and I was heartbroken to open my first shipment of hatching eggs to find two of them broken and the others all "contaminated" with egg white, except for one. What do I do? I gently dabbed the others dry without rubbing them, but will the outsides be too compromised to even make it worth incubating them? There was only one egg that was completely dry. I am so upset! Would appreciate any advice from others who have had this experience. Thank you in advance. Pam

Id suggest you contact the seller and see about getting a new batch. Putting the contaminated eggs in will most likely have a low hatch rate because the shell isn't really a shell at all, more like the early skin and it can absorb things. Contact the seller and see what they have to say and if you really want, you can try but make sure you check/candle them WELL on the 7th day as they might have gone bad and may explode. As far as the one egg that isnt contaminated. I guess its worth a shot but if it does hatch, you will need to buy others unless you have a flock already as they are very social animals and will be lonely and depressed

Gently wash the eggs with a warm wash cloth & set them. They will be fine.

The seller isn't responsible for the post office drop kicking the package off a truck.

A lot of egg sellers send extra eggs just in case some break. It's very common.

What would a momma hen do with a broken egg? Shed sit on it.

Thank you. We already have a small flock and I'm awaiting a shipment tomorrow of 12 more hatching eggs, so hopefully I will get some out of this hatch. I had heard about exploding eggs. Definitely don't want to go there!

Thank you. Oh, I'm not blaming the seller at all. In fact, I think it's because the eggs were just too big. They are ENORMOUS and I think that made it possible for the only one next to an empty hole in the egg carton (seller sent 11) to smash into the other.
