I love my silkie roos and so do my kids but unfortunately, I live in a neighborhood and my neighbors are complaining about the crowing in the morning (I can't blame them). I'm afraid if don't find them a home soon someone will complain and then the rest of my hens might be in jeopardy. They are both sweet and handsome. My black silkie (named Rocket Macdonald) was born a couple of days before Christmas so he's about 8 months old and my buff slikie (Honey) is about 3 months younger but is crowing too. Can any of you help me find them a new home? They are so sweet that my two year old walks around with them. The lady that sold them to me said there was no way to tell their sex but that if any of them turned out to be roosters she could find them a good home. When I called her she just called back and left a message saying that she couldn't help and to advertise them as free on craigslist. I really don't want to do that in fear that someone will just take them straight home and eat them. Help!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So sorry you can't keep your babies. When you have 20 posts, you can place an ad in our Buy Sell and Trade section in hopes of finding them a good home....

You can also do some chatting in your state thread and talk to your chicken neighbors. Maybe someone nearby can home your babies....

I have been hearing about a Crow Collar that is supposed to help reduce the volume of a roosters crow. It doesn't harm them or anything. You might do a search on line and look into a collar for them too.

Good luck and I hope you can find them a nice forever home.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! TwoCrows gave you some good links to try. You might also see if there is a local 4-H club (call your local extension service) and if somebody might want one for a project bird. If you do Craigslist, your local feed store etc, just screen the interested people, there are occasionally people looking for pet or flock roosters, and Silkies are popular as pets.

Glad you joined us! Best of luck with finding your roosters new homes.

I think if you stress they are beautiful and docile, very good with children and make great pets, you will have an easier time placing them.
