Two days ago I moved my 7 week old Red Sex Links outside to the run/coop. I put up a divider between them and my three Silkie hens just to slowly integrate, and to keep the chicks from eating the Layer feed until I can buy some general flock feeder.
Anyways I went out this morning to check on everyone, and I noticed two of my Silkies were chest bumping and pushing each other in circles pecking at each others neck feathers. They have done this before but it's been rare. And they were really going at it this morning. They have since stopped......at least for now.
Are they just working out who is top hen because they feel threatened by the Red chicks?
I figure I will keep the divider up for a few more days.
