hi I am a new member and I have been hatching chicks all spring. I finally found a golden polish rooster so I have been hatching the eggs..when the chicks hatch they seem to live a few days then die. there is no symptoms so runny poop. they just seem weak and just sit there .I have dipped their beaks in the water but nothing.i have been raising and hatching chicks for sometime now.but this has me stumped...could it be my rooster or hens? I hate losing the chicks..the ones that are still alive some of them have angel wings.. thank you..

I'm sorry to hear that.

If they have a disease like Avian Encephalomyelitis then they may be getting it through the eggs or from the brooder. They could have coccidia, their parents may not be getting proper nutrition or may have poor genetics. Since you have raised chicks before I doubt it is a nutritional or environmental problem.

I hope they get better!

I would dust them with 7-Dust just to make sure that they do not have mites. I had 2 babies that hatched before the others and both died from mites.

I dusted all of the chickens and coops and no more passed after that. :)

nothing like that..we bought a new rooster so I am thinking it is him..we upped the heat on the polish chicks and they are doing fine..we have raised over 100 chicks this spring and only lost a few ..same heat same everything..it is just the golden polish we were having trouble with so that made me think it was the rooster..but all seems well now..thank you so much for replying
