Two Years Away: Felicity Emu Comes Home

Felicity Emu, daughter of Eric, sister of Greedy and Number One, turned up this afternoon. She is my favourite of all the emus, and after two years, I feared her dead.

She and her sister Number One, who commands (at present . . . ), immediately resumed the Eternal Squabble, chasing each other about.

Hmmm . . . here is a gallery of shots: these emus are a family under observation for over seven years. The male with the two chicks is Eric, the original emu. The gawky chick with Eric and the fig tree in the background is 'Uno' -- two years after the chicks in the first photo.

The the three females I tamed in 2009: first Greedy, second, Number One, third, Felicity:











And I've observed one of Greedy's consorts -- Boy Emu -- and the chicks he hatched. And one of Felicity's consorts -- Noddy Big Ears Emu -- and the clutch he hatched.
