Twooo birds- What breed and what gender?

Ordered 28 chicks of various breeds. Of those was 3 buff orpingtons, though we ended up receiving 2 buff rocks (yellow legs eep) and 1 tiny unknown. Also got 3 golden sex links, 2 are obviously female but the third has a different pattern and is lighter, as well as a bigger comb. S/he still looks very hen like to me though.
All birds are 3 months old.


Pullet in the middle- gray legs, slim body, perky tail (usually sticks up quite a bit), smallest of flock by far

Golden sex link- What gender?

Same bird

One of the other golden sex links (pullet- not same bird)- Darker colour overall, less white undertone, lighter and smaller comb?

The bird in the top two pics is a Buff Orpington pullet. The two birds in the bottom three pics are Red (Gold) Sex Link pullets.

Oh, really? Well that's good then... Any reason why the Orpington is so small and compact? I thought they were a much larger "loose" feathered breed. Sometimes she actually looks like a bantam.
Also what's up with the one different sex link? Why are her feathers so much lighter and her comb so much bigger and darker (than the other sex links)?

Been looking at pictures of buff Orpington pullets- none of them look as small or compact as mine at 3 months. Closest I could find was 1 month when they're scraggley and still filling out.

With all respect to Micheal, I agree the buff bird is not an Orpington. Do you know what hatchery she came from? I'm thinking something like a Buff Mincora, or if not from a hatchery a mixed breed.

Your sex links are Pullets. Their sex is linked to their color so it's pretty fool proof. Since they're a mix of breeds, there's quite a bit of normal variation in coloring. As for the comb, some females develop faster than others. She'll be one of your first layers.

Ohh ok, that's really cool. So the sex link is just a step ahead. Bit of a relief since we already have 3 (beautiful but arrogant) roosters.

We got them from a "raiser" of sorts who orders them from Ideal Poultry. She doesn't breed or hatch, just raises them and acts as a middle man. The chicken lady has a limited number of breeds that she sells, but there's still the chance that Ideal messes up her order, so I can't go from the chicken lady's list.

The little buff is the smallest, flightiest, and most difficult to handle of the entire flock, so I'm pretty sure she's not an orpington.. I can try and get some better photos in a bit, if that'll help.

I don't think Ideal has Mincoras. Maybe a Catalina? Although I'd expect to be seeing white lobes by now. Hmmm...

Based on your description of her, I agree with donrae that she's not a Buff Orpington. I somehow missed the point that she was the same age as the other birds and mistakenly accounted the size difference to an age difference.
