Tylan 50 Dosage for a Turkey

thank you ive been using this site to answer questions for a while now but this is the first time ive asked for advice lol. I'm not sure his exact weight he is a one year old bourbon red tom I think he must be about 20 pounds
Wow, if he's that heavy that would explain why the Tylan isn't working... How many days have you given it?

well a friend had told me one cc for a week so that's what I did I stopped yesterday I mean he is better than he was but his face is still puffy so I thought I would double check

so 10 ml twice a day? that seems like a lot but I also don't know much about it. I read at the beginning of this thread 1 cc twice a day per pound. have u given turkeys that much before?

50 mg per pound per day is what I think the dose should be. 1 ml = 50 mg, yes? So 25 mg (1/2 ml) per pound twice a day is what I would do.
20 pounds x 25 mg per pound = 500 mg twice a day
500 mg / 50 mg per ml = 10 ml twice a day.

Please check my math.

Treated chickens must consume enough medicated water to provide 50 mg per pound of body weight per day. Only medicated water should be available to the birds.
Turkeys:

  • Administer medicated drinking water for three days; however, medicated water may be administered for two to five days depending upon severity of infection. A friend of mine used the amount I suggested on her peachick, and that peachick was better in 48 hours. If you can, try to get an accurate weight on your turkey and let me know what he weighs and I'll redo the math if needed.
