I have a bird and they think it is MC I think that is the abbreviation for it... it has a swollen eye that looks like it is bulging out, no goo in the eye and the other eye is fine. I have isolated the bird and I am giving it tylan 50, .5 ml once a day. I want to give some to my flock to protect them, I have about 30 birds total, this sick bird is a love child that the hen had hidden some eggs and when I found them some were already formed and I could not just due them in.. now i have a sick teen age half white Leger half Cochin. sweet bird about 6 maybe 5 month old. seems fine except for the eye. the vet we use said to give the flock tylan powder to help protect them. this was a phone consult. well I cant find any powder form.. cant I just use some of the liquid. seems like I should be able too..

can anyone help.

when we have an issue we use la 300 we give 0.75 ml in the breast for three days , we have used tylan 50 in the exact same manner but we seem to have better results with the la 300. if you dont have any luck with either of these the go to the vet and get some baytril its for kennel cough in dogs give it in the breast at 0.50 cc for three days. just our experience i am sure other people have had good luck with other methods as well.

i am sorry do not give the batril in the muscle as you do with the tylan 50 and la 300, it is administered under the skin subcutaneously NOT intramuscular just realized how i worded the original post i made.

thank you, her eye is doing a bit better, we are giving her the tylan liquid in the breast. she ate some corn tonight. she is being very picky right now. I am going to cook her some broc and peanut butter. the vet finaly said it is ok to use it 250-400mg in one litter of water. what the heck is a mg, is it like a ml I feel bad asking I just dont know.

you first need to know how many mg are in a ml of your liquid it should say somewhere on the lable,, once you have figured that out just multiply to get the amount you need in mg.

Is everyone using tylan 200 for cows? That is the only one I can find at the stores. They also have a 50? Is this the same stuff?
