What type of wire do you all use for the floor of your quail pens? Currently I am using hardware cloth and it seems to be giving them sores on their feet. Any help is appreciated.

Give them some pans of sand to get in to so they can rest their feet from the wire. Most of us with wire floors use hardware cloth, and you will see damage to their feet over time if they don't have a place to rest them. Usually if they have open sores you have a pokey in the wire somewhere though.

I have the same thing but I bought some of the disposable shallow baking pans and I set a couple of them in there and they sleep on those and always lay their eggs on them. If they get to dirty I just throw them out.

Has anyone tried the vinyl coated wire? I wonder if that would be easier on their feet.

Never tried it myself, heard some talk of it, it was positive.
it sounds like something worth investing in if it's going to be a long term hobby or business venture.

Klubertanz is the cheapest place I've ever found welded wire. Anyone have anything better? Shipping is pretty...steep, lol. So you definitely have to take that into consideration when deciding whether to order online or buy local. If you have a local steel place, it may be worth checking out, maybe they can match prices if you ask?

Speaking of matching prices...This may come as a surprise to some. You can get it shipped to store at your local wallyworld.

Since its heavy and shipping is expensive. Its a good option sometimes. look at the specs, I think some of it is made in USA

maybe all, been a while since I looked.
