I have a large run with three sections and a coup in each.

My largest is for my laying hens, which are actually only about 3 months old at this point. I started them on a non-medicated chick starter. They did great. All were very healthy, no pasty butt, etc as the grew.

In a separate pen, I had two ducks and two polish chicks, all about 6 weeks younger than the hens. I bought them locally and gave them non-medicated Start & Grow. Again, no problems.

Then I got two dozens broilers for my third pen. At the feed store I told the folks I wanted a non-medicated feed so hy sold me some Flock Starter.

As I ran out of the other feed, I just started giving everyone the flock starter. The lady at my feed store says the layers, polish, and ducks will grow too fast with the flock starter.

Question: Should I feed the pullets and ducks a chick starter, and the broilers the flock starter? I keep them segregated for now, because the broilers are only 4 weeks old and my big girls still pick on them a little bit. Since they are in separate pens, I can give separate feeds. Any opinions?
