I have a small collection of U.S. Army field and technical manuals. I became familiar with them when I was trying to find interesting material on survival and such. Anyways, I stumbled upon the U.S. Army's old technical manual on homing pigeons. I was trying to buy the original 8.5"x5.5" pamphlet online, but couldn't find it, but stumbled upon a PDF of the whole thing! I thought it was really interesting, and it actually does have some really good information for people new to homers. For veteran pigeon guys, it would at least serve as an interesting thing to flip through. Here is a link to the PDF (it took me a few minutes for it to load):

A wealth of useful info for sure, I will be pouring over it...although a bit out of date on dealing with hawks - "Destroy all hawks in the loft area with the shotgun provided"

Although it is a federal crime, I'd imagine plenty of people out in the country still do this if hawks are preying on their pigeons.
