So I had some super tiny serama eggs i wanted to hatch or at least see if they were fertile. They were fertile but didnt get too far along. I threw in some regular serama eggs and a large egg or two. Anyway I have two friendly healthy seeming serama midgets. The other serama egg was ok until yesterday but the chick passed, not sure why. The large egg that did hatch has an issue. He seems healthy except for he lays on his side. even trying to get him to stand straight in your hand is impossible. I have had chicks before with deformed feet and maybe hips but never one that just cant get off it's side! I don't know how to cull, Or maybe I just can't do it. It's a rooster so if it dies I wont be heartbroken but I hate to see it suffer. Anything I can do for him?? He hatched this morning so I have 2 days left to help him before he rapidly goes down hill.

I will go check that out right now, but an update first. (he is a SHE i believe so I will try harder to save lol) This morning when i checked on her in the bator, she still had the same hopeful bright eyes, but still on her side. I held her for a bit trying to see what is wrong, looks like maybe a hip. I massaged it a bit (hey it can't HURT right??) and put her back. I just checked on her again and instead of being on her side she was squatting sitting. When my son came to look he startled her and she stumbled back a bit but remained upright! Will be setting up the cage today cause she does want to eat she nibbled at some bread crumbs. YAY!

Try your best, chicky!

LOOK! She stands and is very curious so if I put my hand in the cage she comes running! A bit wobbly but hey, at 10am this morning she still couldnt get off her side!! The pic makes her look like she has bug-eye but she is normal. Well...
