Sadly, hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy in their methods. Sounds as though he's one of those that slipped through the cracks.

Hands down that is 100000% rooster. No doubt. Real buff orps have less shine on the roosters as well as hens

Do you mean shine as in shiny feathers? I’m new to the breed. That are all such sweet things

Yes. I know a Buff Orpington shower a couple hours from me and all her roosters had hen-like shine in their feathers.
