Hope for the best and be prepared for whatever may happen. Who knows? Stranger things have happened

You're not a jerk, you didn't do anything to cause it. There are two things you can do: either let it develop and see what happens, or stop incubating the egg and let it die before it gets too developed.

Is the egg normal size - or larger then other eggs?? It would have a better chance if it a much larger egg that you have set. I set one last year... I wasnt going to - it sat on the table next to my incubator for over two weeks - I took it there to photograoh it for size- then when claering out old eggs not set- I picked it upwith others- then instead - just on a whim- I put it in the bator rather than toss it. I did not expect it to start developing- and was surprised that boh both ducklings make it to day 27. it was sad in the end- as one had started to pi- but it was good to have the experaince of it despite the outcome. As long as you know that the outcome may not be positive- nothing wrong with setting a double yolker- there is no garuntee any egg you set will hatch- in this case its just two ducklings in the one egg if they dont make it.

It could actually be twins forming from a single yolk- that can happen as well - but you can tell from candling now if there is two yolks. I have done the same thing.. Set an egg I had actually candled first- and it didnt appear as a double yolker until about day 4. Sometimes it is hard to tell for sure until developement starts. You may not have noticed this one yourself until now.

yes, it is as large as a medium goose egg(thats why i shoulda known to check

Sounds like it might have the size to make it, hope everything works out!

Dont worry Roo...I did the same earlier this year. My Jumbo Pekin was laying HUGE eggs and I put 3 of them in to see what I would get out of her and my Runner drake. 3 days in I candled only to find the 3 HUGE eggs were all double yolkers. I took them all out before any veins appeared.
