I’ve got a bunch of eggs in the incubator that should hatch next week! :wee

I also have a turkey who’s been trying to go broody in the woods, I don’t mind her going broody I just need her to go in the coop so she’s safe!!! :barnie

But guess what?

I go out into the coop, and I find that one of my silkies, whom I didn’t even know started laying yet, has gone broody!

I’m like okay well we’re gonna end up with way too many chicks now.

I go into my other coop, and you wouldn't believe it! My bantam Cochin who’s notoriously broody has gone broody once again!!!

Geez! This means I’ve now got 3 broodys AND an incubator full of eggs!!!

I guess you’ve really gotta be careful what you wish for! :th

This is going to be way more chicks than I’ve ever had at once!

I guess now is a good time to start building another coop!

I've had really good luck rehoming and selling chickens through local Facebook chicken groups. You have to be careful how you word your ad though since Facebook is cracking down on selling animals there, most of those groups have rules to circumvent the ban (no pricing except in comments, etc...)

I have 4 preadults, 3 juveniles, 5 silkie babies and 4 hathery babies my husband doesn't know are coming. Worse part is I'm still finishing the diy coop so all of them are indoors still!!!!

Haha! This is sounds just like what my situation is going to be! My husband doesn’t even know that I got geese eggs and put them in the incubator, so he’ll really freak when he sees goslings :lau

I haven’t even begun the brooder project yet! I think I might use one of those kiddy pools since there will be so many!

I feel your pain! I have 2 hens sitting on a clutch of 5 each, our coop is definitely not suitable for 22 chickens, oh well, guess i'll just have to build another coop. :barnie

Yup, I just checked and both the hens are sitting on 6 eggs plus the turkey who’s on 4 eggs and the incubator with 13!!!

Things are going to be CRAZY when they all hatch! But I’m also super excited! I love seeing the broodys take care of their babies, and I love my incubator chicks thinking that I’m their mama!

I was going to start on a new diy brooder today and he was like why you need to build another one, I was like to get the ones out of the cardboard box we have. :yesss: he fell for it!!!
