My mom and I were sitting on our deck in the afternoon and I said, "Look, there is that orange cat." ( An orange cat lives in our hay loft.) My mom stood up and I saw the face and tail and we both said at the same time, "THATS A FOX!" It was about a foot away from two of my chickens and it was walking, so Im assuming that it was stalking them. My mom (who was barefoot) ran to the padock with our dog close behind. Joey (our dog) chased the fox far into the woods but we arent going to take any chances so we're keeping them locked up for a few days because we know that it will probably come back. It scared the heck out of me, though! Do you know of a way to stop a fox from coming?

A fox will not stop coming and it will sneak around until it gets one of your chickens once it knows they are there.

Kill it.
Relocating it makes it somebody else's problem, and is illegal in most states. I know I would not be happy if somebody dumped their problem in my backyard.

We have a fox with a den on the far edge of our property. So far, it hasn't gotten our chickens, and I know I have our dog to thank. Our dog is outside all day with our free rangers, and she barks, hollers, and goes crazy if anything comes around. I think she quite successfully keeps it away. I also think her constant scent around keeps the fox absent even when she comes in for a while.
